Mayor’s Diversity Initiative
Recognizing the diversity represented in Louisville, the Office for International Affairs leads a new initiative for Louisville Metro Government. Louisville is a diverse, inclusive, prosperous and progressive community that values diversity, and Louisville Metro Government values a diverse workplace. In its community and business partnerships and outreach with residents, it recognizes that diversity is essential for innovation. These are the values that Louisville Metro Government utilizes and applies in the hiring process and in trainings, such as “Valuing Diversity” and “Tapas” and an introduction to the Spanish Language. In this way each employee brings richness to government.
General Diversity Training
(Part of Metro Training University)
When we think of diversity, we tend to picture racial, gender and cultural diversity. Though present in almost every organization, generational diversity is often overlooked. Class participants can learn about attitudes, behaviors and motivational buttons that characterize each generation. Bridging the generation gap will help diffuse tensions at work and increase communication.
